Minimalism: How to Make it Last

Minimalism: How to Make it Last

Here’s a video of Cheryl and I sharing our thoughts on how to make the minimalism movement last. As you all know by now, we were at SimpleREV 2014 and Joshua Becker gave a talk on this subject. He opened his inspirational speech by reading an article describing exactly how most of us would view our minimalism movement today, only to find out that it was written on April 8th 1991!

Looking at the late 90s and the beginning of the new millennium, it’s obvious that the movement did not last. Let’s make it last this time! Simple and intentional living is worth fighting for and promoting – share this video and subscribe!

How will you make Minimalism last?

5 Ways to Enjoy Any Experience More

5 Ways to Enjoy Any Experience More

This is my favourite video from Cheryl so far. We try to use what is described in this video every day. We’re not always in the moment but we try to be more intentional in everything we do and it works. It brings us more joy, we seem to be more satisfied and it helps us reduce stress.

We live in a society that praises busyness. We wake up in the morning, rush to go to work, get our work done as fast as we can and rush home. Then we eat fast or eat fast-food and go on with other activities before going to bed. And when we have a minute, we check our phone! I have to say I’m guilty of some of those but I’m trying to change.

Stuff can't fix everything

When Stuff Can’t Help You

Stuff can't fix everything

Ever notice how when you have a need in your life, there is always someone trying to sell you something to fill it? Looking tired? Buy some makeup. Out of shape? Buy a gym membership. Bad hair day? Buy a hat. Well, maybe that last one is just for me but you get the idea. It seems such a pervasive idea that sometimes it even goes undetected, until we have left the Target with yet again $100 of “stuff” when we only went in for some milk — try not to buy milk the same place you can buy underwear, that will prevent this from happening again.

Minimalist Sewing Box Purge

Here is my minimalist opposite of a haul, a purge! Watch as I clean out my sewing kit, and see that sometimes reducing our things is very emotional [tweet this]. This will give you insights on how you can purge and organize a sewing box or similar containers and ideas for how you can keep the sentiment while minimizing your stuff.
